We love to drink our coffee through many different brewing methods, including the AeroPress - a fairly new player on the coffee equipment market.
What the AeroPress lacks in longevity it more than makes up for with the coffee it produces and its ease and convenience as a brew method.
To brew coffee with your AeroPress, choose either a coarse ground filter coffee or a fine espresso grind.
Either is suitable, though will produce a different tasting cup depending on which you use.
The short answer is no, you will not make an espresso using an AeroPress coffee maker.
The amount of pressure used in brewing using an AeroPress is miniscule compared with the pressure used to make espresso coffee.
However, it is possible to make espresso-like coffee with an AeroPress using finely ground coffee, a small amount of hot water and a very rapid plunge.
Though the resultant cup will not be as intense or concentrated as espresso, and will not have any crema,
a faux-espresso with an AeroPress is a perfectly serviceable option if you’re not keen on spending hundreds on an espresso machine.
The French Press (cafetiere) and AeroPress brew methods are both simple ways to brew coffee, but produce very different results.
Both brew methods produce a rich, balanced and satisfying cup of coffee, but the devil is in the detail.
With a cafetiere, you can expect a full-bodied, full-flavoured brew, whereas the AeroPress - whose paper filters capture certain natural oils - produces a bright, crisp tasting cup of coffee.
The AeroPress opens the doors to a wide range of brewing recipes, which makes it a great option if you are the experimental sort. AeroPress coffee is also amenable to both coarse and fine grinds, so you can let your creativity flow and create unique coffee styles of your own.
